2003
Victorian Country Championships held at Albury 25th, 26th & 27th April
After much anticipation, the 58th Victorian Country
Athletics Championships finally arrived on the border and was held in
conjunction with the National Defence Titles. The weekend was a great success
even though it was postponed from the Australia Day weekend in January due to
the heavy smoke conditions from the fires.
As a club we had outstanding results. The club finished
2nd overall to South Bendigo, this was the highest result the club has achieved
for many years. Our male competitors winning the team award (David Kitt Memorial
Trophy) was a first for the club and our female competitors finishing 2nd.
We ended up with 27 gold, 23 silver and 21 bronze medals.
We had 35 competitors with 30 members winning medals. (25 male and 10 female
competitors)
